چکیده

We extend to finite temperature the time-dependent effective theory for the Goldstone field (the phase of the pair field) θ which is appropriate for superconductors containing one species of charge carrier, described by the BCS Lagrangian. We show that, when Landau damping is neglected, the effective theory can be written as a local time-dependent nonlinear Schrödinger Lagrangian (TDNLSL) which preserves the Galilean invariance of the zero temperature effective theory and is identified with the superfluid component. We then calculate the relevant Landau terms which are non-local and which destroy the Galilean invariance. We show that the retarded θ-propagator (in momentum space) can be well represented by two poles in the lower-half frequency plane, describing damping with a predicted T and |q|dependence. It is argued that the real parts of the Landau terms can be approximately interpreted as contributing to the normal fluid component. Finite Temperature Time-Dependent Effective Theory For The Goldstone Field In A BCS-Type Superfluid

We extend to finite temperature the time-dependent effective theory for the Goldstone field (the phase of the pair field) θ which is appropriate for a superfluid containing one species of fermions with s-wave interactions, described by the BCS Lagrangian. We show that, when Landau damping is neglected, the effective theory can be written as a local time-dependent non-linear Schrödinger Lagrangi...

Non - equilibrium , time - dependent effective theory of a weakly coupled superconductor at finite temperature

Non-equilibrium, time-dependent effective theory of a weakly coupled superconductor at finite temperature. Abstract We perform a well defined derivative expansion to obtain the time dependent effective theory for a BCS superconductor at finite temperature, using an arbitrary curve in the complex time plane. Our expansion is unique, being free of any problems related to the order in which analyt...

Remarks on the mean-field theory of strongly disordered superconductors

Qualitative features of the mean-field BCS-like theory of superconductivity in a strongly disordered system of fermions with short-range attraction are discussed. Specifically, I consider two versions of the effective bosonic low-energy theory for the electron pairs: with the infinite range, and with the nearest neighbor hoping between localized states. In the first case the superconducting gap...

Mean-field theory of strongly disordered superconductors

Qualitative features of the mean-field theory of superconductivity in a strongly disordered system of fermions with short-range attraction are discussed. In this limit the effective theory at low energies is entirely bosonic, and I consider both the artificial infiniterange limit and the more realistic case of ”nearest-neighbor” hopping of bosons between the localized states. In the infinite-ra...

Goldstone and Higgs Hydrodynamics in the BCS–BEC Crossover

We discuss the derivation of a low-energy effective field theory of phase (Goldstone) and amplitude (Higgs) modes of the pairing field from a microscopic theory of attractive fermions. The coupled equations for Goldstone and Higgs fields are critically analyzed in the Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer (BCS)-to-Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC) crossover—both in three spatial dimensions and in two spatial ...
